Taylor Legal, P.C. was launched by Cevin Taylor in early 2015.  He is a Michigan native who has been practicing law for almost twenty years.  He studied at the University of Michigan, in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and worked for the Michigan Court of Appeals in Detroit after graduating from law school.  He subsequently joined the law firm of Magill & Rumsey, P.C ., where he still practices as an of counsel attorney.  Since 2004, Cevin has specialized in the law regarding  nonprofit and tax-exempt organizations, with a special focus on helping organizations that have lost their exemption get reinstated with the IRS.

Attorney Taylor has served on the boards of charities over the years, and he has helped  hundreds of Michigan nonprofit organizations in all phases of their life cycles.  He has assisted the leaders of organizations during the concept phase, when they were exploring their options and trying to make a dream a reality.  He has assisted organizations that had taken the initial steps at formation, but needed to make sure they were on the right track.  He has helped organizations that were up and running and needed assistance with a wide range of matters, such as reviewing contracts, seeking tax-exempt status, registering trademarks, buying or selling real estate, dealing with state tax issues, registering with the Michigan Attorney General, merging with a related organization, forming a subsidiary, and many other matters.  He has also helped organizations at the end of their life cycle to dissolve and wind up their affairs.  He is one of the country’s most experienced attorneys in assisting organizations to get their tax-exempt status reinstated with the IRS after their exemption has been revoked, and in helping them address the many issues that a loos of exemption raises.

Cevin Taylor is a member of the Nonprofit Corporations Committee of the Business Law Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and has served on boards and committees of many nonprofits over the years.  This service has given him a deep familiarity with how nonprofits operate, the challenges they face, and how to better serve them.  He belongs to the Christian Legal Society, and he can speak, read, and write Spanish fluently.
